How to dye lace
1. Fill a medium-sized bowl or dish with hot water.
Hot water is important to ensure that the lace absorbs the fabric dye.
2.Mix the RIT dye with hot water.
Start with 2 cups of hot water and a half cup of RIT dye and repeat until you reach the color you want. The more RIT dyes you use, the stronger the color of the lace.
3. Gently dispense your lace in the dye mixture, taking care not to immerse your hair outside the roots. Lay the lace for about ten (10) seconds. You have to do this very step by step to make sure you don’t paint the lace too deeply.
Tip: For more precise applications, try using a cotton ball to apply a dye mixture or q-tips.
If this is your first time, test a small piece of extra lace on your forehead. The ten (10) second increment is best to carefully monitor the speed at which the color is absorbed into the lace. Remember, when it comes to lace color, you can always go deep, but you can’t go light.
4. Finally, gently clean your lace wig with cold water to make the color settings correct. Use non-sulfate shampoo and conditioner. The remaining dye that is not stuck to the lace will be washed off the hair. After washing your hair, simply let your hair dry.
